Experiencing Sources of Strength at Humanex Academy
In March 2018, Humanex received a grant to participate in Sources of Strength. Through open dialogue and challenges, students discover, develop, and display their strengths. Here are some Sources of Strength Challenges that both students and staff completed together.
Growing Strengths Challenge
Students had empty pots to “plant” the strengths they wanted to grow.
Fall & Spring Break Challenge
Students had empty pitchers that they wanted to “fill up” over the Break by choosing areas on the Sources of Strength Wheel that they wanted to focus on.
Students needed to choose three items to complete the sentence “I am thankful for….”
Fall into Friends Challenge
To kick off the school year, students wrote down one quality they bring to a friend and one quality they look for in a friend.
Supporting the Struggles in Our Lives Challenge
A Humanex student wanted the Challenge to represent how each student supports the strength in struggles each one faces in his/her own life.
Positive Friend Challenge
Humanex had a hot apple cider cart with mugs available so students could sit together and talk about what it means to be a positive friend during Break time
Check In Challenge
Students need to reflect and write about, “What helps us?”
